My Point Today Is Simple

As I’ve said before – workplace safety is not rocket science. But to make a workplace safe, it does take some effort on everyone’s part.

So, this week I’d like to share a few simple, but effective ways to ensure that everyone goes home at the end of the day in the same condition they came to work that morning.

The first thing you can do is to take advantage of the information available to you and use it to provide your employees with an awareness of the hazards they may be exposed to and to educate them as to the real value of working safely.

Let’s list a few items available to help make that happen:

  • Safety Programs
  • Safety Meetings
  • Employee Safety Handbooks
  • OSHA Regulations
  • Online Training and Classroom Training

Next you need to take advantage of the tools you have available to help your employees complete their work safely and make sure they are used according OSHA regulations and manufacturer’s recommendations, such as:

  • Ladders (Step and Extension)
  • Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI’s)
  • Machine guards
  • Safety disconnect devices
  • Scaffolds
  • Forklifts

Again, the list can go on and on.

My point today is simple – keep it simple and get everyone involved and everyone will go home at the end of the day in the same condition they came to work that morning.

Please do your part this week to make it a safe workplace for everyone.
